Natural light is specific to each building site and plays a key role in our design approach. At Klein Architecture we arrange floorplan layouts around the path of the sun, providing shade during the heat of the summer while allowing the sun to penetrate when it’s needed during cold winter months. Utilizing the distinct nature of northern, eastern, southern and western light, we embrace these opportunities to shape homes which truly live.

Natural Light for All Seasons...

Courtyards are one of the most powerful tools in architecture. Whether they are open public courtyards, semi private spaces or intimate gardens, these features can be designed in countless ways to create unique environments.

Courtyards as Outdoor Living Spaces...

Design Approach

Klein Architecture is not constrained by any single architectural style and recognizes that quality work comes in all forms. Per your direction, we determine the character of the project early in the process. Scale, proportion and detailing rely heavily upon this character and help define both the exterior look and interior layout.

Your Design Style...

The most successful projects pay equal attention to both the interior space and the outdoors. This begins by closely examining the building site looking for opportunities such as view corridors, natural landscape features and of course the path of the sun. With creative window placement and inventive use of architectural detailing, we specialize in bringing the outdoors in.

Inviting Nature Indoors...

At Klein Architecture we have extensive experience addressing the unique design hurdles presented by the region.  Managing our intense western sun, optimally framing our distinctive views, and maximizing energy efficiency with our extreme temperature fluctuations, we recognize that these critical factors not only need to be considered but used as opportunities.
